We’re a Family Pack, which means Cub Scouting is open to both girls and boys in grades K–5. But it doesn’t stop there, siblings and family members are always welcome to join the fun!
Whether it’s a campout, Pack meeting, picnic, or hike, we include everyone (however, please leave your pets at home). After all, Scouting is better when the whole family’s part of the adventure.
To join Cub Scouts, a youth must be at least five years and/or in kindergarten, and be ready to learn, grow, and most importantly have fun! You will need to complete a registration application and pay a registration fee. If finances are a concern, contact the Committee Chair confidentially at info@pack89.us for more information.
Your child’s current grade determines their den:
Kindergarten – Lion Den
1st Grade – Tiger Den
2nd Grade – Wolf Den
3rd Grade – Bear Den
4th Grade – Webelos Den
5th Grade – Arrow of Light Den
Yes. Yearly dues cover Scouting America registration and insurance. You can also sign up for a Scout Life magazine subscription. But no child is ever turned away for cost.
If finances are a concern, contact the Committee Chair confidentially at info@pack89.us for more information. We offer a scholarship program so every Scout can participate.
We do not have Pack dues as our annual popcorn and nut fundraiser typically covers most of the costs associated with our program.
We meet on Mondays, September through May, from 6:30 to 7:30 PM at Enola Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 22 South Road, Enola.
Since our Pack is part of the East Pennsboro School District, we follow their school calendar. If there’s no school on a Monday due to a holiday, in-service, conferences, or other planned closures, our Pack will not meet that day. For closures due to inclement weather or other issues, the Pack Leadership team will make a decision and reach out to members of the Pack.
Even in the summer, Pack 89 is active! While we don’t hold formal weekly meetings during June through August, we offer year-round activities, outings, and events for Scouts to stay engaged, continue earning Adventures, and have fun with their Pack.
We know uniforms can be a big expense, so do what works best for your family. There are two uniforms in Cub Scouts.
Class A Uniform (aka Field Uniform) is worn for formal occasions.
For everyone (except Lions) the Class A uniform includes a shirt with patches, neckerchief, and slide. Lions wear the official Lion t-shirt (no patches), neckerchief, and slide. For all ranks, the hat, pants, and socks are optional, add them when you can.
We encourage Lions through Bears to have a belt so they can wear their adventure loops. Webelos and AOLs earn adventure pins, which are displayed on their Adventure Colors ribbon.
For more information on the uniforms click on your child's den
Lion Tiger Wolf Bear Webelos Arrow of Light
Class B Uniform (aka Activity Uniform or Pack T-shirt)
Pack 89 has its own custom t-shirt so Scouts can match while keeping things relaxed. The Class B is perfect for times when we might get messy! (Camping, Hiking, Community service, etc.)
Ideally, uniforms should be worn at all meetings, but Pack t-shirts or other Scouting America shirts are always welcome. We ask Scouts to wear their uniforms for Pack's meetings unless we say otherwise.
For Class A Uniforms, we have several options:
Online at the Scout Shop
Tuckahoe Scout Shop - 400 Tuckahoe Road, Dillsburg PA 17019 (717-795-2703)
Resellers such as - Facebook Marketplace, eBay, thrift stores and more
Pack 89 has a community lending closet with uniforms available to borrow. When your Scout Scout outgrows it, please return it so another family can use it. See the Cubmaster for for help
For Class B Uniforms, simply fill out this order form and turn it in at the next Pack meeting or activity.
Yes! The handbook is an essential part of the Cub Scout experience. It includes the Scout Oath, Scout Law, and everything a Scout needs to learn and grow.
Think of it like a carpenter’s toolbox: you can’t build much without the right tools.
If printing one is more cost-effective for your family, check with your den leader first so you know which Adventures your Scout will be working on.
Definitely! Pack 89 offers a way to reimburse registration fees through participation in the sale of Pecatonica River Popcorn & Whitley Nut. Here’s how it works:
If your Scout sells $600 in popcorn &/or nuts, no show-and-sell shifts are required.
Otherwise, each 2-hour show-and-sell shift is valued at approximately $200 toward registration. Completing 3 shifts (or a combination of sales and shifts that equals $600) qualifies your Scout for full registration reimbursement.
Additionally, an adult from the family must be an active, registered volunteer for the reimbursement to apply.
This system is designed to give families flexibility while encouraging participation in the Pack’s biggest fundraiser which allows us to keep our cost minimal for our families.
For a quick, easy-to-read overview, check out our one-page PDF that breaks down how the reimbursement program works.
Absolutely! Pack 89 believes that no child should ever be turned away for financial reasons.
We offer scholarships to make sure every Scout who wants to join can participate. If finances are a concern, please reach out to the Cubmaster confidentially at info@pack89.us for more information.
Pack 89 is funded primarily through our fall Pecatonica River Popcorn & Whitley Nut sale. Proceeds help cover awards, advancement supplies, Pinewood, guest speakers, and other essential Pack supplies. Basically everything that keeps our adventures running smoothly.
Pack 89 does not require Scouts to sell any popcorn or nuts. That said, the popcorn and nut sale is our main fundraiser and helps cover Pack activities, awards, kits, guest speakers, and other supplies that keep our adventures running.
A portion of every sale also goes into each Scout’s individual account, which can be used toward camping trips or other Pack events. So while there’s no minimum, selling popcorn and nuts is a great way to support the Pack and your Scout’s own adventures.
A Scout account is exactly what it sounds like, it's an account that holds funds for each Scout. Money can be added in several ways:
A portion of the popcorn and nuts your Scout sells
Assisting at Pack events, like the Spaghetti Dinner
A portion of Camp Card sales in the spring
Funds in a Scout account can be used for Pack, District, or Council activities, gear from the Scout Shop, or essentially anything related to Scouting. It’s a way for Scouts to help fund their own adventures!
Sometimes there are small fees for camping trips, park visits, or museum outings to cover admissions, food, or lodging. Usually under $25 per event.
No Scout is ever turned away for financial reasons, again just reach out to the Committee Chair confidentially at info@pack89.us for assistance.
If your Scout is a Lion or Tiger, an adult must stay with them at all meetings and activities. We’re a family pack and love when everyone joins in! If something comes up, please talk with the leadership team before dropping off your child.
We love that our Scouts have interests outside of Cub Scouting! Attendance at meetings, den activities, and special events is encouraged but not required. If your Scout can’t attend, Pack and den leaders will work with you to help them catch up on Adventures, stay on track with advancement, and continue progressing in the program.
All Scouts and immediate family members participating in Pack activities, especially outdoor events, need an Annual Health and Medical Record on file. Sections A and B must be completed, along with a copy of the front and back of insurance cards.
Part C is only required for camping trips longer than 72 hours.
While you can fill out the form online, due to HIPPA and security reasons, we only accept paper copies with ink signatures. We strongly recommend that parents keep a copy for their records in case additional copies are needed for summer camp or other events.
You bet! Cub Scouting is designed to be fun, rewarding, and accessible for all Scouts. We have parents in the Pack who have experience with supporting others with special needs who are happy to help.
Contact the Committee Chair confidentially at info@pack89.us to discuss your child’s needs and how we can make activities positive and inclusive.
Scouts are encouraged to wear their Class A or Class B uniform, bring their handbook, and have a water bottle at meetings.
For outdoor activities like hikes, pumpkin festival, campouts, etc. they should also bring their Six Essentials to stay safe and prepared.
We work hard to keep families in the loop! The Cubmaster and leadership team send out weekly emails with news, reminders, and important updates. This way, parents and guardians always know what’s happening and what’s coming up.
The Pack has also started using BAND as another form of communication, especially when the entire Pack needs to be alerted to something, and emails may be missed.
We ask parents and guardians to fill out a Family Talent Survey and the Adult Partner Application. Turn them into either the Cubmaster or Committee Chair. After a quick chat, we'll help you find the spot that fits you best within the Pack.
We’ll match your interests, skills, and availability with roles where you can make the biggest impact. And if we don't have the perfect fit - no problem! We'll create one. (We've done it before!)
Absolutely! It takes a village, and everyone has something to offer. We’ll find a role that fits you just right, just be sure we have your Family Talent Survey so we can match you to your sweet spot!
Because we value our volunteers, we cover the leader registration fees for those actively helping within the Pack. The required background checks would also be free for you to obtain as a volunteer.
Nope! One of the best things about Scouting is flexibility. Attend what fits your schedule. Den and Pack meetings help Scouts complete Adventures, while extra activities build community, add fun, and offer service opportunities.
Costs vary by activity. We do our best to keep them low, but some fees (like Council or District events) can’t be avoided. If finances are a concern, contact the Committee Chair confidentially at info@pack89.us for more information
Our Pack has Scouts and family members with allergies or dietary restrictions, and we do our best to follow these guidelines to keep everyone safe. All relevant information is collected on the Annual Health & Medical Form, and leaders review it to make sure it’s complete and note any issues.
If you’re volunteering to bring food, we’ll make sure everyone knows what’s being served. If you’re bringing a random snack for a den or Pack meeting, please check with Pack leadership ahead of time to ensure it’s safe for all participants.
Your den leader keeps track of each Scout’s advancements, but we love when parents get involved! Pack 89 uses Scouting America's Scoutbook, an online system where you can see your child’s progress and even check off requirements you complete at home. You can even keep track on the go with the Scouting app. It’s free, works on both Apple and Android, and makes it easy to check progress, log achievements, and stay plugged in wherever your adventures take you.
Leaders may chat with your Scout about what they worked on, it's not a test, but as a way to reinforce what they’ve learned.
After all, a Scout is Trustworthy — and we’re here to help them grow in both skills and confidence.
Start with your den leader, they’re your go-to for anything related to your Scout’s activities or program.
If you still need help, your next step is the Cubmaster or Assistant Cubmaster, who can lend a hand or point you in the right direction.
For anything on the administrative side (like registration, payments, or Pack logistics), reach out to the Committee Chair.
We’re all part of the same Pack family, and we’re here to help make sure things run smoothly.
At Pack 89 events and campouts, parents are always responsible for their own Scout. Our leadership team handles the planning and safety side of things, but we love when families jump in to make the experience even better.
If you’ve got an interest or a skill — whether it’s cooking over the fire, leading a hike, running a craft, or helping with setup — talk to someone on the event planning team.
There’s always a way to lend a hand! Most of all, we ask adults to stay engaged, have fun, and share the adventure right alongside their Scouts.
Our Pack calendar is always available on our website and the BAND app so you can see what’s coming up.
To sign up for events, we use Google Sheets. The link is included in each weekly email, and many families find it helpful to bookmark the page for easy access
