Pam Throop (Miss Pam) is currently serving as our Pack Committee Chair, but her Scouting journey is packed with adventure. Born and raised in northeast PA, Pam graduated from North Pocono High School in 1994 and moved to this area in 1998. She and Daryck have been married for the last 15 years. She is mom to 2 children, and already rocking the grandma life with 2 grandsons!
As Committee Chair, Pam keeps Pack 89 running smoothly behind the scenes, kind of like the air-traffic controller for all our organized chaos. She leads the committee, supports our leaders, helps wrangle new volunteers, keeps the budget from wandering off, and works with the rest of the team to make sure the Pack stays strong and thriving.
Her Scouting résumé? Impressive! Pam spent 3 years as Cubmaster, served as a Den Leader for multiple years, and has been helping wherever needed since her son first joined as a Wolf. Fun fact: Pam and her family were there at the very beginning when Pack 87 was founded back in 2019! Even though her son has moved on, Pam’s heart is still fully in the program—her passion is helping youth succeed in every aspect of life.
Pam also reminds us of something important: Words matter. Actions matter. Sometimes we don’t realize how much they can hurt—or heal. By choosing kindness, we build people up instead of breaking them down. And remember: one second of kindness can change someone’s life forever. So let’s follow Pam’s lead and treat everyone we meet with kindness!
Outside of Scouting, Pam is just as amazing. She’s deeply involved in her church community, helping with children and youth programs and serving as co-director of Vacation Bible School. And when it comes to creativity—watch out! Pam is a crafting wizard with her trusty cordless glue gun. Those AOL plaques, derby trophies, and special awards you’ve seen? Yep, Pam hand-crafted them all with love and care.
